designers' task forceCENTRALA is an architecture studio that, since 2001,has been dedicated to stimulating reflection on urban space. Alongside urban and industrial design projects, exhibitions and education as well as engaging in urban activism, they have yielded to their curiosity concerning residential experiments. CENTRALA investigates and is inspired by bold ideas of 20th century. Their ephemeral projects are created at the intersection of architecture and art, and with the desire to curate public imagination, send out reality revising impulses.
They hold various awards and distinctions from architectural and urban planning competitions. Their most recent projects include the design of the Polish Exhibition of The XXI International Exhibition at the Triennale di Milano, 2016. They have also participated in the exhibitions at the 15th Architectural Biennale in Venice, Barcelona, Vienna, Belgrade and Porto, among others.
CENTRALA also has a rich educational and publishing history that is invested in creating awareness and discussion around the preservation and understanding of modernist spaces through educational practices and community outreach. Through publishing and regular community workshops and discussions they work to foster conversation, mobilize action and promote reflection about the nature and use of urban space.
Grupę projektową CENTRALA jako platformę wspólnych poszukiwań architektów, designerów i artystów założyli w 2001 roku Krzysztof Banaszewski, Małgorzata Kuciewicz, Jan Strumiłło oraz Jakub Szczęsny. W roku 2010 dołączył do CENTRALI Simone De Iacobis.

Wiele inicjatyw CENTRALI to udana próba wywołania dyskusji społecznej na temat ochrony i rewitalizacji dziedzictwa awangardy modernistycznej. Akcje i publikacje CENTRALI służą pobudzeniu refleksji nad przestrzenią miast oraz wzmacniają wizerunek Warszawy jako miasta anegdoty i eksperymentu. Dzięki współpracy z instytucjami kultury oraz zaangażowaniu w działania edukacyjne inicjatywy CENTRALI wpływają na to, jak miasto jest rozumiane i używane oraz w jakim kierunku podążają decyzje dotyczące jego przekształceń. CENTRALA otrzymała nagrody i wyróżnienia w wielu konkursach. Do najnowszych sukcesów należy wygrana w międzynarodowym konkursie na ideowy projekt rewitalizacji terenów sportowych Warszawianki. Twórcy Centrali uczestniczyli w XVI Biennale Architektury w Wenecji 2018 i zaprojektowali ekspozycję polską na Triennale w Mediolanie 2016.

studied architecture in Rome, attended the two years program of a basic and advanced course of photography and afterwards participated in several exhibitions including the “Fotografia Festival Internazionale di Roma”. Practiced at “Urhahn Urban Design”, Amsterdam; “STAR, strategies + architecture”, Rotterdam; collaborated with “studiometrico”, Milan. Simone achieved prizes both in architectural and photographic competitions. Former fellow of Akademie Schloss Solitude and Khoj International Artists' Association
/Małgorzata Kuciewicz
studied in Warsaw, Montpellier and Tampere, experienced MC Berlage Institute-Amsterdam and several EASA workshops. She has been writing on architecture, researching perception of space, developing her unique ideas of interior design. Guest tutor in several workshops. Former fellow of Akademie Schloss Solitude and and Khoj International Artists' Association.

Studiowała architekturę w Warszawie, Montpellier i Tampere, doświadczenie zdobywała w Berlage Institute w Amsterdamie i na warsztatach EASA. Laureatka nagród i wyróżnień w konkursach architektonicznych, autorka i współautorka indywidualnie zaprojektowanych wnętrz, obiektów architektonicznych, wystaw, a także projektów służących pobudzeniu refleksji nad przestrzenią miast. Zajmuje się badaniem, popularyzacją, a także działaniem na rzecz zachowania i rewitalizacji wartościowego dziedzictwa architektury i urbanistyki. Była rezydentka Akademie Schloss Solitude.
