The significance of the square's location consists in the contrast between open and dense urban tissue. Currently, Teatralny Sq. is a part of a sequence of neighbouring open spaces. Instead of focusing on the possible developments of the square itself, we proposed to re-arrange its surrounding which deserve to be given back their lost density. This could be achieved by means of extending the W-Z runway's tunnel. It would open the possibilty to put back urban space, once so wastefully cut out.
The arrangement of the square itself is, from our point of view, secondary. We strongly oppose the idea of the mall below the square's surface. We advocate the alternative of transforming ground levels of the surrounding buildings into commercial space instead to activate the square's pierzeja?
