The volume comes from the characteristic of a narrow plot of 11,3m in width and 60 metres in lenght with 5m unbuildable strip of land along norther border. Given this restriction the only possible location for the building is inevitably a 6,3m wide strip along southern border with the longest facade facing north. Therefore the building is a east-west oriented tube with minimum openings in the nortern facade and two incisions in the southern one providing light and ventilation to an inner patio and to bedrooms on the first floor.
The limitation of space led to a solution enabling a better usage of buildable strip by evitating supportive elements in the carport section where a surface of about 40m2 was „suspended” with use of a 7m long cantilever. The surface below the cantilever is made out of translucent Barrisol becoming a large scale lamp.
The building principle used is the one of a „house-in-a-house”: outer shell is made out of rough unfinished concrete of 18cm while the inner shell is a wooden, „canadian house” infill with all interiors done in plywood. Rough concrete, unfinished wood and steel meshes will also be used in house's entourage.
