Contemporary Art Museum in Wrocław

project description

entry in a open competition- summer 2008

As in other of our projects we're very much concerned about linking the cultural, built environment with the landscape and living, green tissue. In this case, we wanted to avoid a standard "box for art" typology of an autonomous, inert and inactive object defined just by it's more or less smart facade by proposing a way to merge the surrounding park and surrounding streets. Therefore, the building is an opening matter providing a landscaped access (by literally sucking in the surrounding) of the park into the built structure both from the main entry side and from backstreet entrance. The facade would be a combined skin made out of modular ceramic pores and a giant LED monitor showing the current Museum's content to the potential public approaching the building from the riverfront.
